Tapjoy Drives 25% Lift In Engagement, 29% Reduction In Churn

The Tapjoy platform — the only complete monetization platform — is known for increasing the revenue of freemium-based mobile apps. But what isn’t as well known is that Tapjoy can also help increase engagement, lengthen retention and reduce churn.

We recently conducted a study to find out just how much impact our platform has on user engagement and retention. Our hypothesis was that users who engage with Tapjoy content would stick around longer and engage more frequently than users who did not. After all, a more personalized app experience is a better app experience, and more targeted marketing campaigns are more appreciated by the recipients. We figured this would translate to not only increased monetization but deeper engagement and less churn as well.

Turns out, we were right.

By using predictive analytics and marketing automation tools to help developers deliver intelligent IAP promotions, engagement messages and advertising offers during contextually relevant in-app moments, engagement went up by 25% and churn went down by 29% across our entire network of more than 10,000 apps.

There are a number of different channels that allowed us to achieve such great results — all driven by our sophisticated user targeting and segmentation.   • User Initiated Videos: These ad units can be integrated anywhere within an app to allow users to watch brief video ads and earn free in-app currency with the press of a button.
  • Message-to-Earn: Message-to-Earn enables developers to deliver in-app messages to targeted users during relevant moments, offering the chance to engage with ads in order to earn currency.
  • Full Screen Interstitials: Featuring campaigns from well-known, popular brands, these display or rich media ad units can be inserted into natural breaks in the action or to offer in-app rewards during contextually moments.
  • Contextual Video: These ads deliver full screen video ads during natural breaks in the app’s action, such as in between levels or when the app first loads.
