Our 3 Biggest Takeaways From DMEXCO 2018

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our gracious hosts at this year’s DMEXCO! The event was an immense success for everyone involved, including the 100% mobile Tapjoy EMEA team, who were fortunate enough to connect with some old friends and forge new relationships with delegates from all parts of the digital media landscape. After more than 30 meetings, multiple social events, and a collection of top-tier content sessions from the industry’s frontline professionals, we thought we’d share some of the key takeaways we gleaned from attendance.
Video Remains A Hot Topic
After connecting with a wealth of advertisers, we were thrilled to see a great deal of interest around video advertising among forward-thinking marketers. It’s becoming more and more clear to thought leaders and advertising experts from the world of brand marketing just how powerful video advertising can be, and not just on top platforms like Facebook or YouTube. Thought leaders like Jan Tißler, co-editor of UPLOAD magazine, are keeping a close eye on the space with special attention being paid to growing relevance of mobile video.
Programmatic Is Evolving
Legacy media channels are continuing to embrace the potential technical power of programmatic advertising practices. The promise of greater efficiencies and fewer wasted dollars has been enough to entice marketers advertisers of all verticals into attributing more of their budget to this rapidly evolving solution. Programmatic television was a topic of particular interest among delegates, coming up in multiple panel discussions and sessions including those from thought leaders like Trade Desk CEO, Jeff T Green.
In-App Advertising Has Arrived
Overall, we were thrilled to see a greater understanding and recognition of the value that in-app advertising provides not just to game and app publishers, but to brand marketers as well. With multiple mobile advertisers in attendance, we had the opportunity to see the mobile value proposition resonate with a greater number of delegates than ever before.
It was our pleasure to spread the Tapjoy message far and wide while receiving positive feedback on the work we’ve done to advance the cause of in-app advertising among the digital advertising world at large. Having our voice in top-tier publications like [a]list daily and MarTech Series has had a major impact on the discourse, and we look forward to continuing the conversation at future events.
