In a case study conducted with PONOS in November, 2017, the publisher found that participating in a 4-day currency sale for their hit app Battle Cats led to a 4x increase in ad revenue, followed by a sustained lift of 89%.
Currency sales are limited time promotions that offer users the chance to earn more virtual currency than usual for every ad that they engage with. They not only encourage users to engage with rewarded ads, but have been shown to drive significant bursts in revenue.
To examine the impact that currency sales have on revenue, PONOS compared the average daily ad revenue generated by their offerwall during the sale to revenue measurements from the week prior (when exchange rates were not discounted). They found that the currency sale generated an immediate 4x boost in revenue, followed by a sustained lift of 89% during the following week (compared to the same time period during the week before the sale).
